Answering some FAQ: If you've never seen this guy: The random encounter "Gift of Flight" only spawns once per playthrough (and only on Solstheim), it may well be that he spawned in an unfortunate spot while you were walking past. More info: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Wizard His death isn't scripted, he just dies from fall damage - Being paralyzed negates fall damage. So all one has to do is be prepared to paralyze him while he is in the air. Here I am using the paralysis spell, the Ice Form shout should work as well. This may be easier with Mass Paralysis, I hadn't done the Alteration Ritual Spell yet though. This is also useful if you are finding yourself falling from a high place. Eat some Netch Jelly, which can paralyze you long enough to survive if you eat it just before hitting the ground.
