I built a fully custom electric mountain bike from used and new part, optimising performance/price. Frame: Commencal Meta Power 29 2020, size L (new) Motor: Shimano EP8 (almost new) (compatible with this frame, luckily enough) Battery: Shimano E8035 504 Wh (new) Shock: Ohlins TTX22M (almost new) Fork: Fox 38 180mm 27.5 Brakes: Shimano XT 4 pistons (new) Transmission: Shimano XT (almost new) Wheels: Mavic Crossmax Carbon (new) Dropper seatpost: PRO LT 150mm (reduced to 100mm) (new) Tires: Maxxis Assegai (F) and DHR (R) (new) Handlebar and stem: Raceface Respond Pedals: Bike-components Notes: 1. I wouldn't recommend building an eMTB if you don't have patience, finding eMTB parts is really difficult 2. The original motor for this frame is the E8000 but I managed to fit an EP8 without any modification 3. I got a fairly good price on those wheels, putting 27.5in wheels instead of 29in lower the BB by about 1.5cm, no issue so far 4.
