About the Guest: Ms. Ayushi Agarwal is a PhD scholar and Lecturer at the University of Oxford. She has been awarded numerous scholarships, including the prestigious fully-funded Weidenfeld-Hoffmann scholarship to read for the BCL at Oxford, Cornelia Sorabjee scholarship in the name of the first Indian woman to ever read and practice the law in the UK, the JN Tata scholarship as well as Oxford Law Faculty’s scholarships. She did her undergraduate degree in law from NLSIU, Bangalore and graduated as a gold medalist. She has worked at the chambers of the legal luminaries of the day, including Hon’ble Dr. Justice D. Y. Chandrachud, Senior Advocate Indira Jaising and Senior Advocate Salman Khurshid. She has also held a fellowship at the Latin American human rights organisation DeJusticia in Bogota, and the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at Oxford. Ayushi has achieved tremendous mooting success, having won the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition at the UN Headquarters in Geneva, Blackstone Chambers Human Rights Moot Court Competition at Oxford, and several national moot courts in India. She has also been the best speaker (finals) at Blackstone, best defence counsel at the International Criminal Court Moot, the Hague, and overall best speaker at KK Luthra Criminal Law Moot. She coaches teams in both Oxford and India. She is passionate about social change and mentorship. She co-founded NLSIU’s feminist alliance, the Alliance of Oversensitive Women in 2017, and presently serves as a mentor to several young law students. He graduated in legal sciences and law from the Government Law College, Mumbai, and was awarded the Yashwant Dalal Trophy for Overall Best Student as well as the Nivedita Nathany Memorial Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence. He has been invited as a judge for various national and international moot courts, Model UN conferences, and debates, and he actively coaches students participating in such activities.
