SAMWEL BOKAYA was born in 1954 in Nyangoge village,Bomakombi sub location, Bomorenda location,Suneka Division,Bonchari constituency,Kisii county.He was the last born in their family.He started his music carrier as a young boy mid 60's.He joined other local guitarists in the village before graduating to playing in village dances as narrated in the video above. He could play solo, rhythm and bass but he loved rhythm and solo.Was a very good composer too.Among the hits he composed are'Goika Otugute oyomino which is is in the label of king 09 .In this song, people from around his home believe that this was a mockery to one of his village mate who was a government employee but never wanted to participate in other people's funerals.The flip side of the song was a dedication to his village mate Sakawa Magare eulogizing Sakagwa's fiancee Joyce.The song is entitled "Ogosira gwa Joyce.This period he had quit rhythm completely and he was permanently stationed in solo.He played for several bands apart from those ones that he was a member ie Nyamwari band,Kegogi and the one he was heading "Kebacha kings.He died in 2003 and left his wife Basibika and Children who are leading not a very good life.Listen to the interview done in this video.
