Some test footage off the Canon C100 Mark II from the other day. Anna is using a Panasonic HMC-150 which is another great camera and one that we were doing comparisons against. I used a Sigma 18-35 lens with a Tiffen Low Contrast 2 filter. With the C100 it seems like a Low Con filter is an absolute must given how crisp the shadows get. The Low Con 1 felt too minor and almost looks like a smudged lens whereas the LC2 feels more intentional or like a lens without anti-reflective coatings. That said, I think I'd still prefer something like a LC1.5 in a perfect world due to the heavy bloom to the highlights. This was recorded internally in C-LOG but graded with a custom curve. Canon's official Rec.709 LUT has way too much contrast and I feel like makes the skin too plastic looking. My curve is almost identical to the official one except it lifts the shadows and drops lower in the midtones for a bit more detail. The effect isn't totally apparent here because of the lighting. For this video specifically I also lowered the saturation slightly on top of my curve, but that was the only tweak made to color. Anyways, I think that the C100 II is a super viable camera.
