Elijah was born with Apert Syndrome – a genetic condition caused by a mutation in the Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor gene which affects how cells in the body grow. When he was only 18 months old, he needed surgery on his skull, resulting in serious brain damage. At this point, his mother, Kaddy, realised she would need support from a care provider.
