Camping at Tiwi Beach in South Coast - visiting the African pool and exploring Tiwi Caves.

Together with the coast offroaders crew in Mombasa, we went camping at Tiwi Beach. Tiwi Beach (coordinates -4.240525, 39.603102) is located in the South Coast of Kenya and with its hidden gems, is a paradise on its own. During our stay we explore two attractions, each magical in its own right. One is the popular African pool, a naturally occurring phenomenon that is shaped like the continent itself! The other is a lesser known pair of shallow caves that are very easily explorable. Hang out with us as we set up camp right on the beach in our 4x4s (two 80 series land cruisers and one Pajero Mk2 ), bring out the grill and enjoy a very properly made steak and take a break from the busy city life. Things to bring when visiting the African Pool shoes - approaching the pool from the beach, the path is littered with sea urchins and slippery rocks. Have appropriate footwear on a hat - keep the sun away sunscreen - protect your skin snorkelling gear - for best visibility to better experience diving into the African pool courage - may not be for the faint-hearted :) friends - always amplify the experience ^_^ Local guides are recommended for unfamiliar and solo travellers. They can be engaged to guide and show to the African pool. Flexible charges agreed upon on engagement.
