Salt (restaurant inside the hotel) was recommended to us by a colleague and we decided to make a weekend out of it. Full disclosure, we used AMEX points we transferred to Marriott Bonvoy to cover the lion share of the cost of the room. I'm glad we did because I couldn't imagine paying $750/night for what we got. The view was beautiful, ALMOST everyone was very pleasant, and the acknowledgments of my birthday didn't go unnoticed. But, in short we've stayed at places that we equally as nice if not nicer for fractions of what this should've costed. I've linked to our One Ocean and Golden Magnolia videos below. One Ocean • YAG visits One Ocean Golden Magnolia • YAG visits the Golden Magnolia Marine Resort There was no ceiling fan above the bed which is something that we've really grown accustomed to. Numerous people raved about the service but our room only had one robe. I requested one through the Bonvoy app and the response in the app to the my request was swift. An hour later I still hadn't received the robe and the wife and I were getting ready for bed at this point. I message stating that we were getting ready to go to bed and if they could have housekeeping leave an extra robe when they serviced the room that'd be much appreciated. Again, another quick response but they actual request was never fulfilled. Something as simple as a robe. Valet was a nightmare the entire stay. They had a service in which you could text a number to have them bring your car around before you get to Valet. On numerous occasions we texted and received a response saying our vehicle would be ready in 5 minutes. That must be a standard response because it was never 5 minutes and once took 20 minutes after the original 5 minutes. We were completely ignored by one guy in valet (hence my reason for saying ALMOST everyone earlier) and others would tell us our car was on the way not knowing we drive a vehicle that we could track. Every time we were told it was on its way, we could see the car was still plugged in. Then there was an issue were I specifically requested that they plug the car in because we would be leaving again real soon. I had to text an hour later reminding them as I never got a notification that charging had started on my vehicle. Your stay comes with a complimentary photoshoot in which you'd only have to pay for the pictures you wanted. I was in communication with the young lady that runs it and I thought I confirmed for Sunday morning. When I texted her Saturday night asking what time on Sunday she stated that it was never confirmed and that spot was taken now. I have the emails. Sent her an email stating I've like to take advantage of the complimentary shoot and inquired about how it works. She responded that as a guest of the hotel, the sitting fee is waived and she sent over the price of several packages. She said she had Saturday at 5pm and a sunrise on Sunday available. I stated we had a candle making excursion already planned for Saturday at 3pm and I didn't know how long that would take so we'd take the Sunday sunrise. I don't know how to get anymore specific than that. She said I never confirmed. It's very unfortunate that this will be my only experience with the Ritz Carlon because 1. my first experience wasn't as "knock your socks off" was I was told it would be and 2. I can't pay that kind of money for an average room where the service is supposed to be the selling point when the service wasn't really all that. Again, the firepit was nice (upgrade, not standard) and the views were amazing so it wasn't all bad.
