Redwood Tree Roots may Surprise you!

Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) trees are mind-blowing organisms, and I wanted to make a quick video about the various cool facts I learned while visiting Redwoods National and State Parks this past fall! One of the more interesting things I learned was that Coast Redwoods can absorb water directly from the abundant fog along their range in the west coast. Water can enter into their stomata and help the plant get more water during dry spells. Their thick bark and fire tolerance is worthy of admiration too, and many old growth trees display their fire scars with pride.
