In today’s livestream, I talk about something that gets parrots labeled “unpredictable” when the truth is much simpler: We’re missing what they’re clearly telling us. Parrots communicate constantly through tiny shifts in posture, feathers, eyes, and movement — signals so small most humans never notice them. I share real examples from the aviary, including: • Sugar communicating “wait” with a barely visible body movement • Solas appearing calm while actually being completely frozen and vigilant • How eye shape, neck feathers, and stillness can signal concern or aggression • Why people say “he bit out of nowhere” when the warning lights were flashing Once you train yourself to see these behaviors, you’ll realize something uncomfortable but important: you’ve been missing most of what’s happening. And even when you get good at it, you’ll still miss half — which is a big improvement over missing everything.
