On paper, this should have been a routine win for the Bloods looking at league positions, but recent results, coupled with the away team's 5-0 win last week against AFC Blackpool made for a slightly nervous game for Droylsden. Before the game, the crowd paid their respects to long time Droylsden fan, and great friend to many at the club, Bill Ledward, with an impeccably observed minutes silence. In all honesty, any nerves which the home side may have had, were settled in the first 2 minutes, as a Droylsden attack down the right wasn't cleared properly, and Garstang keeper Joel Sargeant's punch clear fell to Kyle Foley on the edge of the box, and Foley thumped it into the back of the net to give the Bloods an early lead. The rest of the first half was a similar story, with attack after attack from the home side, but some poor finishing, coupled with some great goalkeeping for Sargeant, kept the score at 1-0 to Droylsden going into the Half time break. The second half signalled more possession, and more attempts on goal from the home side, but somehow the Bloods failed to add to the score line. Garstang had their only notable attempt midway through the second half, which forced a superb save from an otherwise untested Jordan Latham. The win sees Droylsden finish the regular season in third position, and claim a home game against Holker Old Boys in the Play-off semi final on the 19th April.
