Massimo Tamburini created his masterpiece, the 916, described by Motorcycle News magazine in 2014 as "the most beautiful bike of the last 50 years." The 996 replaced the 916 in 1999 and was aesthetically the same aside for different graphics and crucially the name was 996 and not 916. But this one. This one was unique because it was featured in the movie Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and sparkled a limited edition run for 2004. By then the motorcycle had a revised engine and was called 998 Matrix edition.
