We begin on Great New Street (Stora Nygatan), one of Gamla Stan’s main thoroughfares, lined with history and small shops. Our first stop is Gamla Stan’s Candy Cane Factory (Gamla Stans Polkagriskokeri), where handmade Swedish “polkagris” candy is created right in front of your eyes — a sweet and nostalgic tradition. We continue to Corn Harbor Square (Kornhamnstorg), once used for unloading grain from boats arriving via Lake Mälaren. Then we turn into Funck’s Alley (Funckens gränd), one of the Old Town’s narrowest and most atmospheric lanes. We arrive at The Western Long Street (Västerlånggatan), one of the main streets in the Old Town, lined with shops and history. Here, we step inside Aifur The Viking Restaurant (Vikingarestaurangen Aifur) — a medieval-style dining hall inspired by Viking culture, complete with authentic interior and live music. Back outside, we follow The Western Long Street (Västerlånggatan) to Shack Slope Street (Kåkbrinken) and arrive at The Main Square (Stortorget) — the oldest square in Stockholm, surrounded by colorful 17th-century buildings. From here, we step into Narrow Strait Street (Trångsund), where you get a beautiful view of Stockholm Cathedral (Storkyrkan), the city’s grand medieval church. The walk continues down Cathedral Slope (Storkyrkobrinken), a historic descent toward the Royal Palace, and ends peacefully at Royal Guard Terrace (Högvaktsterrassen) — a quiet spot with royal views and timeless atmosphere.
