FOYAG Research Scholar Emma Double investigates the fascinating portrait of the East India Company Captain, John Foote, wearing an elaborate colonial costume. He was painted by one of Britain's leading eighteenth-century artists, Sir Joshua Reynolds, between 1761 and 1765. Very unusually, both the painting and the costume are held by York Art Gallery. Made by Emma Double and Rachael Sherlock, in collaboration with York Art Gallery and the University of York's student television group YSTV, 2012. Music by Stephen Hollis.
