Visiting the Largest Glacier in the Alps & the Goms Valley I Swiss Sights 2022 - Ep. 2

During this Sunday Funday, we set out on a 3.5 hour journey with 2 trams, 3 trains, a gondola from Fiesch to Fiescheralp and a cable car to Eggishorn to visit the largest glacier in the Alps! This amazing glacier stretches over 20 km in the Jungfrau region. It weighs over 10 billion tonnes, and it is 800 meters at the thickest part of the ice (Konkordiaplatz). We were very lucky and visited the viewpoint on a beautiful, clear day. We could even see the Matterhorn! There was also a Grand Tour photospot, which was our 38th, but it had been moved inside for the winter. It was truly magical to see this ice giant. When we were finished enjoying the views, we headed half down the mountain to Fiescheralp for lunch. We ate a delicious meal at Alpina and then headed down to Fiesch. Once at Fiesch, we decided to take a train another 20 minutes East to check out another Grand Tour Photospot in Reckingen in the Goms Valley. We may have gone out of our way, but it was definitely worth it. After a few attempts, we found the location of the sign, and the girls enjoyed climbing in the snow to reach it. The sign was in front of a magnificent barn, which was built in 1617. The barn is made of wood that has been turned dark brown by the sun. Once we got back to the train station, we realized it would be about 30 minutes until the next one so we decided to walk a mile to the next station.
