At the age of 12, a sports teacher discovered her talent for running and sparked her passion for long-distance running. Following early national successes, she moved to a sports boarding school at the Olympic Training Center in Hanover at 15 to further her training. After a prolonged injury in track and road running, she stumbled upon trail running in 2017 through a guest stage at the Transalpine Run. A year later, she competed in her first trail race at Germany’s largest trail running event, the Zugspitz Ultratrail. Ida won the marathon distance there, laying the foundation for her trail running career. From then on, she competed internationally for the Salomon team in the Golden Trail World Series and achieved success in all major national races, including three consecutive wins at the Transalpine Run, the 4-Trails, the Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival, and various distances at the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail. Since 2021, Ida has been part of the international team for The North Face, marking the start of her professional career. Since then, she has delivered exceptional performances in international trail competitions over ultra distances, including podium finishes in the UTMB® World Series in both the 100-kilometer and 100-mile categories. She is particularly proud of winning the silver medal in the Long Trail event at the 2023 World Mountain and Trail Championships (WMTRC) with the German women’s team. Through her achievements, her podcast “Höhenmeter pro Kilometer” (Vertical Meters per Kilometer), her YouTube series “Chasing Ida”, and her presence on social media, she inspires thousands to take to the trails themselves.
