A brief sample of shrine Oyamazumi and three temples of the 88 pilgrimation : Enmeiji (54/88), Taisanji (56/88), Senyūji (58/88). Oyamazumi Shrine : known as a "samurai shrine" is located on Omishima Island. Shinto shrine dedicated to the gods of mountains, sea, and war. Founded in 594, it is the head shrine for over 10,000 Yamazumi/Mishima shrines nationwide. Enmeiji : According to legend, in 720 Gyoki founded the temple with this statue. In the Konin era (810-824), Kobo Daishi received an imperial order from Emperor Saga (reigned 809-823) to rebuild the temple as a center of religion and learning. Temple number 54 of 88 Shikoku pilgrimation. Taisanji : There is an ancient legend about Taisanji that it was a place to appease evil spirits that caused people to lose their lives due to water-related disasters. Kobo Daishi visited this area around 815. Temple number 56 of 88 Shikoku pilgrimation. Senyūji : According to legend, the temple was built by Ochi no Morioki, lord of Iyo (Ehime), by order of Emperor Tenji (reigned 668-671). The principal image of Senju Kannon (Thousand-armed Bodhisattva Who Hears the Sounds of the World) used to belong to the Emperor.
