In this tutorial, The GameSmith discusses how to build two different types of mushroom scatter terrain. First, we’ll modify some store bought mushrooms and then we’ll make our own mushrooms from scratch out of polymer clay. Whether you use mushrooms above or underground, these oversize fungi are great fantasy scatter terrain that can be used to break site lines and create cover for your favorite wargame and roleplaying game such as Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), and Pathfinder. This video explores the benefits and drawbacks of using both homemade and store-bought scatter terrain. The techniques shows can be easily applied to other products and DIY designs. Once a crafter has an understanding of the methods used to modify and create these giant mushrooms, one can create an even greater variety of fantasy mushrooms. Even something as simple as changing the colors of the mushrooms can dramatically change the atmosphere at the game table. From all of us here at TheGameSmith, we hope you find these scatter terrain hacks informative and helpful. We’ll see you at the table!
