In this powerful message from Matthew 8:18–34, we are confronted with one life-changing question: How will you respond to Jesus? As we walk through this passage, we see three very different responses to Christ—and each one challenges our own hearts. First, we meet two men who hesitate to follow Jesus. One makes an emotional promise without counting the cost. The other offers a polite but delayed excuse. Jesus makes it clear that following Him requires surrender, priority, and commitment. The question becomes: What excuses are keeping you from fully following Him? Next, we witness the disciples caught in a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee. While the waves crash and fear rises, Jesus is asleep. When He awakens, He rebukes the wind and waves, bringing instant calm. The storm reveals both the disciples’ fear and Christ’s authority. Will you trust Jesus in the middle of your storm—even when it feels like He is silent? Finally, in the region of the Gadarenes, Jesus confronts demonic darkness and sets captives free. His power over evil proves that no force of darkness is greater than Him. Yet the townspeople, afraid of change, ask Him to leave. Freedom stood before them—but comfort mattered more. This sermon reminds us: Following Jesus requires surrender. Storms strengthen our faith and reveal who He truly is. Jesus offers freedom—but we must want it. So today, the question remains: How will you respond to Jesus? #Jesus #Matthew8 #FaithInTheStorm #FollowJesus #TrustGod #SpiritualGrowth #FreedomInChrist #CountTheCost #ChristianSermon #BibleTeaching
