Having Problems with your music keyboard? Here are steps I took to fix my Yamaha MX61. Keyboard repairs can be pretty costly. It sometimes can be easier to fix it yourself. If your Yamaha keyboard keys are not working definitely check out this tutorial that may fix your problem. Hey world, It's ya boy JustDaNorm. I was having trouble with one of my key’s velocity. If you play your keyboard and a one key plays louder than the rest, there are a few simple steps you can take to help fix the problem. The Yamaha MX61 is a great board for those on a budget. I mainly use it as my pad board layered with strings and piano/electric piano. I have still yet to get into many of the things this board can do. TIMELINE: 0:00 - Problems that keyboard players face 1:10 - How the MX61 keys are grouped 2:09 - Get your tools and take your board apart 5:23 - Taking the keys out 6:44 - Examining the contact strips and circuit board 7:05 - Dust will get in your board. Use this! 9:05 - Put it back together 10:54 - Testing the key out (works great!) CAUTION: If you are uncomfortable with taking about your board please seek a professional to do so. If you decide that fixing it yourself is a must. Always, always take a picture of how everything is positioned before you start removing parts. Most of the time any electric keyboard like the mx61 will collect dust. Dust can get in the board and cause problems with the contacts. Hopefully all it takes is a can of compressed air, or a compressor to blow the dust out. If this fixes your problem great! If not check out some of the additional details below. You may need to replace some parts but before you go that route, check with the retailer you purchased the board from. Maybe you can return it. It might still be under warranty.
