My First USPSA Steel Challenge | Why You Should NEVER Switch Guns Mid-Match (Canik Rival vs CZ P10F)

Welcome back to Setup or Get Up — this was my first-ever USPSA Steel Challenge, and I learned one major lesson: stick with one gun the entire match. I completed all five stages without getting disqualified, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I started out strong running my Canik Rival with the Mecanik MO2 optic — clean runs, good rhythm, everything felt dialed in. Then I made the “bright” decision to switch to my CZ P10F with the Holosun 407c for the remaining stages… and instantly felt the difference. My shots started hitting high, my timing was off, and I had to adjust my sights and rely on Kentucky windage to keep things on target. The takeaway? Consistency is everything. Changing guns mid-competition can throw off your entire groove — trigger feel, grip, recoil impulse, and sight picture all matter. Even with the ups and downs, I’m proud I stuck it out and finished my first Steel Challenge strong.
