Sometimes on a journey, you take a detour or you get lost, but you can always get back on the road. Today, I'm calling it on this project. In this finale, I give it the "old college try" one last time. I spent the afternoon trying to "dig a trench" for the saddle slot using every implement of destruction I had—from wood chisels to a makeshift rotary tool router. Despite the effort, the "belly bump" on this guitar proved to be insurmountable, and the string action is still a mile high. I’ve decided I can’t give this mess to my bonus daughter, DJ, in good conscience. It’s time to take a detour, get back on the road, and find her a guitar she can actually play.
