The first time I used the contact paper I thought I had been trolled online. The contact paper completely melted... what was I thinking take a random comment on social media and not putting common sense first? Turns out the comment just failed to mention a key detail: don't solder your entire project with the contact paper on there. Tack it, let it cool just a little, and remove. Easy peasy and the foil doesn't come up. After I had posted this on another platform I was flooded with comments that had a great idea that can be used for almost any adhesive: stick the tape to your clothes first (a few times if needed) to lessen the strength. Duh! I can't believe I had never thought of that - and it really does work. I've also heard a few people talk about purple painters tape being less sticky to begin with so it seems to be becoming a favorite in the stained glass industry. For now, I'll use my tack method and eventually a clear silicone mat (another tip from others).
