Stopped for simple temple cafe bites like spicy lime pork salad (moo manao), five-spice pork and egg stew (tom palo), and ginger chicken stir-fry before driving around the mountain to the iconic Wat Phra That Doi Suthep with its golden chedi and epic Chiang Mai city views from the top. Best done with a private car or driver since the two spots are on opposite sides of the range—go early for cooler temps and better light.
