A guide to basic gain structure when using Electro-Voice portable powered loudspeakers

In this short video we will cover the basics of gain structure and how to avoid audio signal clipping. To better illustrate Basic Gain Setup we will use an Audio Source + DJ Mixer + Powered Speaker to explain 4 different scenarios, 1 without clipping and 3 with clipping. In a prototypical system, a DJ mixer and a powered speaker will be set-up and the ‘gain staging’ process will show: 1. A DJ mixer turned up too loud and sending ‘clipped’ signal to the speaker 2. A DJ mixer sending unclipped signal, but it is still too ‘hot’ for the speaker, which indicates clip 3. The speaker trim being adjusted to reduce the level of the DJ mixer so it does not clip the ADC.
