Between my birth and the time I graduated from High School and went to college, my family and I had lived in 10 homes. I was the youngest so my brothers and sister lived in a few more. I am not sure how many they lived in before I was born, but I think it was around 5 or 6. The reason I believe that we moved around a lot was because at around the time of my birth, my dad became Bi-polar or Manic Depressive as we called it back then. There were various symptoms of his illness and one of those symptoms was moving a lot. From town to town and from house to house in one of those towns. It wasn't until my dad got on Lithium did things settle down for us, but by then. I was almost out of the house and in college. But at least I got 3 years in one home. And that was nice. Not because of the home stability but because my dad was balanced and somewhat normal. I never minded the constant moving. It all felt so normal back then and I got to develop many friendships over the years. Which I have kept up some of those friendships over the years. In hind sight, my heart goes out to my mom for having kept us all together and managing all those moves. This summer I went back and visited all those homes. 2 homes are missing. The homes just don't exist anymore. one was town down for Freeway expansion. In all those visits there were flashes of memories. Most of the feelings were good, but one house gave me such great sadness I wanted to get away from it as fast as possible. So, here is a look at all my childhood homes.
