The Williamsburg Youth Orchestra’s elementary outreach initiative, M3loDy Makers, provides free music instruction to a diverse group of students, including those facing socio-economic barriers. Launched in the 2024–2025 season at York County’s Waller Mill Elementary School, the program offers two hours of weekly afterschool violin instruction to students in grades 3–5. Through a partnership with the Williamsburg Regional Library, each student receives two 3D-printed violins—one for classroom use and one to take home for practice. M3loDy Makers introduces children to the joy and foundational benefits of music-making, creating a pathway for continued musical growth as their skills and interest develop. In the upcoming season, WYO will launch Phase II of the program, which includes both Level 1 and Level 2 instruction. This expansion is made possible by generous support from the Charles S. and Millicent P. Brown Family Foundation, the late Nanci Bond, the Williamsburg Community Foundation, and Paul and Linda Kligman-Try. WYO’s long-term vision is to expand M3loDy Makers to additional local schools in the future. For inquiries and donations, please contact manager@gmail.com or visit wyomusic.org.
