In this video we are going to walk through several different motorcycle parts comparing surface finishes to figure out what kinds of parts will scan what and what will give you trouble. We will be using an Einscan Pro HD and Turntable that is on loan to me through Shinning 3d. We will be scanning a black anodized triple clamp, cast aluminum brake lever, and a clear anodized and primered version of a bar clamp. Which parts will scan OK and which will be a problem? In the next video we will be importing the mesh into Fusion 360 and walking through how to reverse engineer the part off of the scan data. If you would like to give it a shot on your own or want to see how the scan looks after export you can download the file here. https://a360.co/3lmGIZm 00:00 Introduction 01:19 Scanner Introduction 03:34 How Surface Finish Affects Scanning 07:44 Starting the scanner 12:08 Setting up the first turntable scan 15:40 Reviewing the triple clamp scan 17:30 Scanning a brake lever 19:25 Brake lever scan review 20:13 Setting up an unprepped bar clamp scan 21:51 Reviewing an unprepped bar clamp scan 23:05 Setting up a prepped bar clamp scan 23:44 Review of prepped bar clamp scan 1 24:12 Setting up prepped bar clamp scan 2 25:31 Review of prepped bar clamp scan 2 27:05 Global Optimization of point clouds 27:36 Meshing point cloud scans 33:05 Mesh manipulation options 34:27 Creating planes, lines and points from a mesh 37:48 Orienting a mesh to a coordinate system 39:07 Saving Mesh 40:26 Process review 41:15 Should you 3d scan your parts? 49:45 Conclusion
