Watch in HD and use good speakers/earphones; the sound system detail came through better than expected except when the mic clips on TechN9ne. The vehicle is a 2009 Ford Flex Limited AWD. This is an audio build I've been working on for a few months. The owner shipped it to me, and I set to work to build his vision. At first, the system that was planned was a modest stealth-type SQ setup, with a pair of 10's in the spare tire well, and amps under the seats. But this build evolved through several discussions with the owner, and it ended up becoming a one-of-a-kind show car with custom touches a lot of equipment. (Not discussed in the video but relevant to the system:) I went through a few redesigns along the way, as I had to restart the build once I realized that removing the 3rd row requires a brace to be installed in the place of the seat and its structure for the car to retain its crash-worthiness and safety. A Ford Explorer Police Package X-brace was installed in its place and that massive brace stole almost all the space available for equipment. That's why the amps have the angle they do, and why they are not centered in the middle. The picture in the middle shows how much depth below the brace is available, only 3/4" below that which does not clear any equipment. Its a pretty wild system (for a sound quality build) with 4 amplifiers, a processor, and a downfiring 18" Sundown SA subwoofer. A set of Stevens Audio SA6 components up front, and a Wavecor full-range center channel is also part of the mix. Deadening was done with ~75 sq feet of KnuKonceptz Kolossus mat, and a few yards of 1/4' Neoprene foam to decouple the doors and other areas. The whole vehicle is pretty dead now, and so I was fairly impressed to even get the mirrors and seat to shake enough with the subwoofer running hard. No doubt, this vehicle has a huge amount of cabin gain in the 43 hz range and it can get a little excited. Processing is currently handled by a JBL MS-8. I calibrated it with Room EQ Wizard and a mic to my ideal house curve, and the cabin gain is factored in to the EQ cuts so it sounds smooth and realistic, despite getting quite loud if desired. I left about 13 dB of additional headroom in the system,, even with maximum volume selected on the head unit.
