(Monster!) Preserved London Transport Alexander RV Volvo Ailsa B55: A101 SUU

On February 16th 2025, Chesterfield 123 Group hosted their yearly running day to start off the year, usually titled Hello January and taking place early in the month, but due to heavy snow, it had to be postponed to February this year, and re titled the "New Year Running Day". My third and final recording this year, Was this stunning Volvo Ailsa B55, On Loan from The North London Collection for the event. It was new to London Transport in May 1984 as a demonstrator for the potential future of London's bus network as their V1, which it was somewhat sucsessful in proving, as many were ordered for the capital (Although arguably, it's competator, the Leyland Olympian, had more total orders). In 1994, MTL Holdings created London Northern Buses, Which V1 passed to that same year. It didn't last too much longer though, as in late 1995, it was briefly transferred to MTL Merseyside, before passing to Black Prince of Morley the next year. It finally passed to Isle Coaches in 1999, who was it's final operator before withdrawal in 2001. Luckily, this wasn't the end of it's story, as having lied dormant for many years, it was preserved in 2005 by the then V1 Preservation Group - Unfortunitely, this didn't go very far, and it remained in a pretty worn state for many more years, with the potential of it being scrapped arising in the mid 2010s - Luckily once again, Saviours for it came in the form of 4738 Preservation Group, who purchased it in 2014, and restored it by 2015. It joined The North London Collection in mid 2024, and has attended events all over the country since.
