Last video's top end rebuild resulted in almost immediate failure, so in this one I dig into the bottom end. Upon teardown, I find that the corner of the piston skirt broke. The chunk of aluminum dropped into the crank case, shattered, and then blew through the transfers into the top of the cylinder and just kind of generally wrecked things up. I deem the piston and cylinder salvageable, but replace the crankshaft, bearings, and seals. I also find that the oil pump worm gear was partially melted so it gets replaced as well. After this second round of new parts, the saw is finally up and running again. Looking forward to getting some work out of this thing going forward.
