This law has been facing criticism in many Indian states. Students of universities are taking streets to protest against this law. Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jamia Millia Islamia University students have been strongly opposed the new act. Many students have been beaten up by police brutally. Student Leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar, Aishe ghosh have been raising their voice and calling the new citizenship law CAA unconstitutional. According to CAA formally called CAB discriminates on the basis of religion. According to this law people from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who has been facing the religious discrimination will be given Indian citizenship but they should not be muslim. And Government is saying that there will be NRC (National Register of Citizenship) in India and people have to show the proof of their ancestors only then they would be considered as a citizen of Indian state. This is why many people of India are protesting at places like Shaheen Bagh. The ruling party BJP’s (Bhartiya Janta Party) leaders Anurag Thakur and Pawan Verma have been giving hate speeches such as ‘Goli maro salon ko’. Students supporting BJP have been chanting ‘Vande Matram’… few of them like RamBhakt Gopal went too far and fired upon protesting students in Jamia. But how it all started?
