China has updated its requirements for overseas food and drink manufacturers and complying with these will require a number of actions from existing and aspiring UK exporters to the market. According to the Announcement No.248 “Registration and Administration of Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Food” published by the General Administration of Customs P.R. China (GACC) on 13th April 2021, all overseas manufacturers of imported foods shall obtain registration with GACC before exporting the products to China. The new regulation comes into effect on 1st January 2022. The scope of registration has expanded to all imported food and drink categories, which means all overseas manufacturers of imported foods and drinks shall apply for GACC registration. Previously, only high-risk food categories such as meat and meat products, aquatic products, dairy products (including infant formula milk products) and edible bird’s nest products required registration of overseas production companies. Join us to hear what the new changes entail and what you need to do before January 1st 2022 to continue exporting to China. CBBC is delighted to be joined by Chemlinked to offer regulatory advice and relevant services to support UK companies adapting to the new requirements.
