Bletchingly Arms Walk (4K)

In this video we do the Bletchingly Arms walk from the book called "Surrey Pub Walks" (by Matthew Ogborn - more info at the end of the video). Apart from being a slightly clumsy showcase of the walk (there were numerous challenges), this is also a bit of an experiment video - I'm testing out a new action camera (Akaso Brave 7), and I'm editing this video in 4K. I'm also testing the camera mounted on a backpack shoulder-strap mount on my left, which should explain the lop-sided appearance of some of the footage. Apart from the dodgy production values in this video, I have learned a lot from it and present it here as an example for others to learn from too. Here are a few things to take away: Don't rely on the in-camera sound, carry an external sound recorder (or use a second camera for videos with sound) A shoulder mount doesn't work very well, you weave like a canoe and will end up making viewers sea-sick. No amount of in-camera or post stabilization will fix this, so will investigate the use of a helmet or chest mount. For this particular Akaso camera, doing continuous hyper-lapse will overheat it (as would be evident in the video). I will investigate the usefulness of normal time-lapse, as well as the various resolutions (e.g. 1024/24p vs. 4k/30p etc.) I should have activated stabilization - and will definitely do so in future videos. Doing so unfortunately seems to have a negative impact on sound quality, and crops into the picture quite severely - but IMHO that is a small price to pay for more useful footage. Oh yes, 4K sucks! I'll stick to 1080p from now on, life is too short to wait 6 hours to render a video and 14 hours to upload the video to YouTube... :-P If you have lasted until the end of this "bumbling bimble", well done and my commiserations! :-) Even so, this is a beautiful part of the country, and the walks in the mentioned book reflects this. Please have a look at the publisher's website for books on other types of walks, there are many that should appeal to just about everybody (dog walkers receiving an honorable mention). And no, this is not a paid promotion - I bought the book with my own money. And last but not the least, the music used in this video (all available in the Youtube Royalty Free Music library): 'Life in Silicon' by Scott Buckley Spanish Moss - Chris Haugen 'Aurora' by Scott Buckley Natural Light - Chris Haugen 'Vanguard' by Scott Buckley
