MBA for mariners We all would have thought of enhancing our skills beyond the typical shipping knowledge and would have searched for various options at some point of time in our career. The 1st thing which comes to our mind mostly for higher education is MBA as it leads to senior roles, better salary, more recognised and acceptable and possibly a safer option. Some of us would have prepared for MBA, applied and either completed or stopped mid-way for various reasons. In this session, we plan to connect with mariners who have completed MBA (Full time and distance learning) from different parts of the world and understand from them: a) Why they wanted to do MBA b) Why did they choose the mode of education they did c) Key learnings from MBA d) Did MBA help in job progression and better salary e) What are the things which you could have done better e) Whom would you recommend to do aMBA We intend to have this webinar in a panel discussion mode which will be moderated by Capt. Gaurav Rana who has himself done MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad and worked in IBM for 4 years. We would have the following persons in the panel: Capt. Rudra Mishra Worked with Fleet Management Ltd. sailing as Master mariner with experience in logistics and operations on specialized ships with a track record of leadership, academic and operational excellence in the Maritime industry with overall 10+ years of experience. He decided to pursue further education and gave GMAT where he scored 760 and is currently pursuing Fulltime MBA with INSEAD, France. INSEAD is ranked No.2 in MBA ranking all over the world Capt. Mayank Gauba has manifested 18 years of experience in the Maritime and Shipping Industry, having significant expertise in shipping operations and captaining merchant ships with specialized trading of oil and chemical. Currently working as Senior Manager Strategy Business Development, with Fleet ship management. He has done Executive MBA from Copenhagen Business School and is also a Member of Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) Uttam Kumar has sailed as a 3rd Engineer with Anglo Eastern Ship Management Ltd until 2009, before deciding to do MBA from North Carolina State University, USA. He is currently working as Director of Product Management in a leading ship management company. He is a digital product development and technology leader with years of experience in both product and project management and enabling clients to achieve business excellence using data analytics, artificial intelligence and digital technology. Capt. Dharm Parikhis an INSEAD Alumnus and former Captain in the Merchant Navy having over two decades of leadership and management experience, and a proven track record of successfully building technology platforms for the commercial shipping domain. He is currently working with GeoServe Dubai, UAE as Head of Strategy and Partnership.
