However, there are still doubts over Pakistan's participation in the mega-event, but they are likely to be cleared in the next 3-4 days. For Pakistan, the series comes at an ideal time as they look to settle combinations with most of their World Cup squad in place. Several senior players return to the fold, strengthening both batting and bowling departments. Pakistan are very serious about this series as their entire WC squad is available for it. Pacer Shaheen Afridi, who had to leave the Big Bash League (BBL) midway last month, is returning from a knee injury. Apart from him, there will be keen interest in former skipper Babar Azam as well, who had a horrific time in the BBL for the Sydney Sixers. It will be interesting to see whether Pakistan will ask him to play in the top three or in the lower middle order. Interestingly, Haris Rauf is neither in this squad nor in the WC squad. The pacer recently had a very good BBL season with Melbourne Stars. The hosts will bank on their pace attack to exploit early movement, while their spinners are expected to play a key role in the middle overs on a surface that traditionally rewards smart variations. Pakistan’s batting depth and familiarity with local conditions give them added confidence, especially at a venue where they have enjoyed consistent success in recent years. Notably, Pakistan are undefeated in their last three bilateral T20I series. Australia, on the other hand, arrive with a slightly rotated squad, with a few regular first-choice players unavailable. Many of their WC squad players like Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis and Glenn Maxwell are unavailable for this series.
