Touhou 13 - Ten Desires ~ Mamizou Futatsuiwa Extra Clear as Youmu Konpaku

I downloaded the Touhou 13 trial. I decided to play on Hard as Sanae at first but changed my mind to Youmu because she gets to fight her master Yuyuko freakin' Saigyouji. I died to her last spellcard because I was close to her. After finishing the demo, I went back to the full game for spellcard practice of that Yuyuko spellcard, and there I noticed just how nice Youmu's damage is. I thought of pitting her against Mamizou in spellcard practice, and found her pretty devastating against Mamizou. So I had the idea. Why not just go fight Mamizou and see how far you go as the one and only Youmu Konpaku? Yes. Bumping into a bullet in stage 1 is why this run happened. I'm not kidding. Unfortunately, I had two miscalculations when it came to deaths as far as they were concerned. The first is that Ten Desires forces you to lose 1.00 power on death, meaning that recovery is even harder than in Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom which had you lose 0.50 power on death, somehow. The second was that as the battle went on, Youmu was getting even less powerful and didn't even have enough slashes to reach Mamizou by the end of it! The one thing I like about Youmu is that her playstyle encourages recklessness. She's speedy enough to go all around, her options can be positioned to clear an area of fairies or just to focus on one enemy, her sword slashes provide instant devastating damage to everything if you get close for the slashes to land...that kind of gameplay is not something you'd expect of Reimu and Marisa. That style put me in close situations, it is amazing, such as the last spellcard which I had to time out instead of beat it normally. Another thing about Youmu is that since the sword slashes are charged up, it's pretty difficult to both dodge and charge and unleash the sword charge, especially when it doesn't clear bullets like Aya's camera. (It would be better if Aya had her camera in Hidden Star in Four Seasons!) This run isn't one of my best runs as far as spellcard captures are concerned, but I hope you enjoy watching it just for the sheer thrill and recklessness involved.
