Artist Jeremy Deller joined us at our winter Circle Dance '24 to talk about the current interest in our Neolithic past. He explains why its important to have fun with ancient history, how Stonehenge is the most contemporary structure in Britain, how his own work has interacted with and contributed to the contemporary antiquarian moment, and recounts two of his own time-travelling Neolithic experiences. This is a recording of a talk given on a Sunday afternoon in December set to the slides from Jeremy's presentation. It features an excerpt from his excellent documentary 'Everybody in the Place'. There is also a brief reference to his 2023 book 'Art is Magic'. Both of these are required reading for all circle dancers and come extremely highly recommended from us. Live music by Alexis Taylor and Daniel O'Sullivan - thanks to both. And thanks to Jeremy for putting this talk together specially for Circle Dance.
