His journey to recovery began in Delhi, where he underwent treatment and experienced firsthand the deep need for rehabilitation facilities in his home state of Himachal Pradesh. Recognizing this urgent gap, Naya Savera, one of North India's leading rehabilitation centers, stepped into Himachal for the very first time—making Panki the first person from Himachal to be supported by Naya Savera’s outreach, a moment that became a turning point for Himachal and the entire region. Through courage and determination, Panki turned his life around. Today, he stands not just as a survivor, but as a guiding light for hundreds of others battling addiction. Together with his wife Sonu, who voluntarily counsels families affected by addiction, Panki has committed his life to giving back to society. Their mission is rooted in compassion, healing, and transformation. Panki is a key member of Sunshine Himalayan Adventures, a social enterprise dedicated to sustainable tourism in Tirthan Valley, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Great Himalayan National Park. His work here is inspired and guided by Ankit Sood, an environmentalist and student of Himachal University. A seasoned counselor, Panki has conducted sessions for several Indian government institutions. His journey has inspired many through his TED Talk and his work with the Indian Army in Dehradun, customs officers in Delhi, and as part of the first public relations (PR) program in Himachal held in Bir, spreading the message of Narcotics Anonymous. Panki is also the founder of Himalayan Volunteer Tourism, an initiative that has established over 100 toy libraries across Himalayan states and trained more than 1,000 teachers in alternative education methods. PROJECT SAMBHAV – Nasha Mukt Bharat As the founder of Project Sambhav – Nasha Mukt Bharat, Panki is leading a bold movement to make India drug-free. In its first phase, the initiative aims to reach and educate over 1 lakh students from classes 9th to 12th, equipping them with the awareness and strength to say no to drugs.
