On a night full of chaos, The rematch between Shai and Jokic delivered, tensions started boiling on the court, and we even witnessed multiple thriller endings so… We gotta start in Oklahoma, where the MVP battle reached its pinnacle. Both guys were going full steam, showcasing their true potential. The Thunder had a 7 point lead going into the break, but in the 3rd quarter, the Nuggets put the clamps on SGA. They were double teaming Shai way up here, forcing him to throw the ball away for someone else to take the shot. And that seemed to work wonders for Denver. Besides Lu Dort who was red hot from downtown in this game, hitting 8 of his 14 3’s, the others didn’t shoot the ball well. Only 9 of 26 from the field in the 3rd period. Meanwhile, Jokic seized the moment and took the advantage. So, at the start of the 4th, with Batman on the bench, Robin took over the responsibility. Jamal Murray puts his team up by 10, in a rare positive outcome when Nikola is off the floor. And when he got back, the number 1 defense in the league didn’t have a clue how to stop him. This is just beautiful basketball. He really is a level beyond everyone else when it comes to court vision. Shai on the other hand was quiet in the final period, scoring only 2 points for a total of 25 on 14 shot attempts, 18 less than the previous game. That’s really unorthodox for him. Jokic bounced back with a masterclass of 35 points, 18 boards and 8 assists on 75% from the field. And to do this on a 2nd night of a back to back is simply incredible. Matter of fact, the Nuggets are 12-0 on such games when Nikola’s playing. Coach Malone said that he planned on resting the Joker for this game, but he was adamant to play, despite dealing with some injuries. This shows just how much of a warrior the big fella is. After the game, both him and Mike had some thoughts on the MVP race. And I agree with that. Moving on to Memphis, where Kevin Durant couldn’t agree with the disrespect the young Grizzlies were showing him. I completely understand why KD got angry. A random rookie guy looking like me on the court just smoked him. Jokes aside, Cam Spencer had himself a ball game last night. 16 points on 57% shooting from long range. Kudos to him. So, the Grizzlies were up in front in the final period. Ja Morant was flying high in this one, 29 points and 12 assists on 69% efficiency. (repriza) But KD, still feeling a little bit salty from the previous events, wasn’t gonna surrender easily. Durant silences the crowd with his 35th point of the night, and out of the timeout Bane turns the ball over on the inbounds giving the Suns a sudden chance for victory. KD’s shot hits back iron and the Grizzlies survive in a chaotic ending. Speaking of chaotic, we have two more wild finishes for you. In Brooklyn, the Lakers were down by 6 to the Nets in their first game since LeBron’s groin injury. So, with Luka being doubled all the way up here and the shot clock winding down, what can the Lakers do anyway? Gabe Vincent hitting his 6th 3 of the night, cut the lead to just 3 points. But, his former teammate shows his bag as well. D’Lo responds immediately to give the Nets their 6 point lead back. And after a couple of made free throws by Vincent on the other end, Cam Johnson takes matters into his own hands. Johnson hits the jumper in Luka’s face and up by 6 with less than a minute to go, it’s game over right? Well, not so fast. Woow Austin Reaves banks the 3 from way downtown and makes it a 1 possession game. Still, they desperately need a stop to be able to hope at least. Look at Claxton here, kinda pulling Vando’s hand who goes crashing into Luka, leaving the paint open for Williams to collect the miss for the putback layup. Anyway, Doncic wastes no time at all when… There’s some magic for LA but can they get a stop on the defensive end? Well, no… A great play by the Nets on the inbounds results in a 2 plus 1 for Noah Clowney who seals the game for Brooklyn at the end. Doncic got to his 2nd triple double in a Lakers uniform but to no avail. 22 points, 12 boards and 12 assists on a miserable 30% shooting from the field. We gotta include the Hornets vs. Heat game as well, not because of its meaning, but because of the absolute GOAT of broadcasting. Bridges drains his 30th point of the night and the Hornets take the lead with a minute and some change remaining. But, Miami got a Herro on their squad. We go back and forth and things escalate in the commentating booth when… With both guys on fire, Miles on the court and Eric behind the mic, Charlotte takes a 2 point lead in the clutch, and then bedlam ensues… Mark Williams puts his team up by 4, but Bam Adebayo refuses to raise the white flag yet. Bam casually hits the corner 3 to cut the lead to 1, but now they must foul. So, Miles Bridges goes to the line and knocks down both free throws or as Eric would like to say… Up by 3, they can’t afford a clean look from downtown, however…
