'The Welsh Warrior' - WB64 Virgin Pretendolino Farewell 25/8/14

The end of an era, and it's one end that went out in style! After 15 years of loco push/pull services, it was time that Virgin had to send the WB64 'Pretendolino' back to the leasing company. The commemorate the event Virgin teamed up with DRS to run a loco hauled tour along the Welsh coast, making for the name of the tour, 'The Welsh Warrior'. First Clip: 37682 + 37419 arrive at Chester on 1Z57 10:05, and depart with some nice thrash towards Holyhead at 10:11. Cheers to David Treacher for the flail! Second Clip: On the return journey the tractors on 1Z59 battle the gradient up through RAF Cosford making for one hell of a noise at 19:33. Third Clip: Arriving late into Crewe at 20:44 1Z59 pulls up ready to get the locos changed over in platform 12. 37419 and 682 uncouple and run around the train, coupling up to 57302 and the DRS Mk2 and leave for Gresty bridge under 0Z59. Fourth Clip: 90034 brings DVT 82126 out of Platform 8 and attaches it to the Mk3s on order to take the train to Wembley. After 4 attempts to couple up, 90034 runs around with some tones to the other end. 5th and Final Clip: 82126 (by this point quite late) leaves with the horns blasting a 6 tone, thus drawing an end to loco hauled Virgin trains on the WCML.
