How to Test - K6042 AirCheck Kit Sampling Instructions

Sample for NO2, NO, SO2, and Dew Point contaminants in compressed air/gas with our AirCheck Kit K6042. HOW TO TEST Insert your source bottle into the bottle holder and firmly press down onto needles. Avoid puncturing the blue cap by holding the bottle holder at an angle with outer needles on the lower side. Do not twist the bottle. Once air is flowing, feel for the gas flow and determine if odor is present from the bottle holder side port. If you do not feel gas flowing, stop the test and check the needles. If you have to stop the test, you will need to restart using a new set of sampling media. Open the control valve for the WATER flowmeter, and purge for 2 minutes. Close control valve. Remove caps and netting from water vapor detector tube. Insert detector tube into tip breaker, score the glass by rotating the tube and then angle to break off the tip. Repeat for the other side. Insert water vapor detector tube into the DT holder until the tube bottoms out. Arrow must point up. Hand tighten the nut. Replace the netting over the tube and holder. Open the water flowmeter control valve to 5 lpm and sample for precisely 10 minutes. It is important to watch the tube for duration of the 10 minute sampling time.. If the reddish brown stain reaches the 200 mark before sampling time is complete, close flowmeter valve, remove tube, and replace caps and netting. Write exact time that the stain reached the 200 mark on your data sheet. Include only reddish brown color change in your reading. Do not include gray color change. While this test is running, begin the NOX / SO2 test. Remove the red caps from the NOx detector tube. Insert detector tube into tip breaker, score the glass by rotating the tube, angle it sideways and break off the tips. Repeat for the other side. Insert the detector tube into the DT holder until it bottoms out. Again, the arrow should point up. Adjust the flowrate to 0.2 LPM and adjust as necessary to maintain. After 5 minutes, remove the tube and recap. Repeat these steps using the SO2 tube (clear caps). Immediately after sampling, read the tubes. Record the reading of the final edge of discoloration. If there is no discoloration, record 0 on the data sheet. While the gas is still flowing, remove the source bottle. When testing is complete, return the caps to all of the detector tubes. Once your detector tubes and source bottle have been removed, and run time is complete, shut off air at sampling point. You are now ready to proceed to the next step.
