The SPR... a rifle that brings a smile to many faces and it arguably the most fun you can have with an AR15. Today we dive into the PWS SPR project using the MK118 Mod 2-M upper receiver as starting point and base. A slight history lesson: A Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) is a type of rifle that was used by United States Special Operations Forces until 2017. The SPR was initially designed as an add-on upper receiver assembly for existing rifles, but it eventually evolved into a stand-alone weapon system. Its design caters to engagements that require precision and longer-range capabilities, making it a versatile tool for various combat scenarios. With this build we test the accuracy of the MK118 upper out to 600yards and evaluate how useful an SPR is in todays climate of SBRs and general purpose rifles.
