Glass Octopus Caught on Camera in the Depths of the Pacific Ocean A rare glass octopus showing off its see-through skin has been spotted by a team of researchers exploring the deepest parts of the Pacific Ocean The incredible creature - whose internal organs are visible through its body with the naked eye - was spotted twice by the expedition near the Phoenix Islands Archipelago. Known as Vitreledonella richardi, the species of cephalopod has been known to exist since 1918.
