This Video gives step-by-step instructions for how to make watercolor monotypes in your own home without a printmaking press. There are quite a few steps and supplies but the entire process is easy and simple. The only special supplies you may not already have are gum arabic, printmaking paper, and a piece of plexiglas. Materials needed: Printmaking paper, regular watercolors or watercolor inks, watercolor brushes, gum arabic (I have heard you can use clear liquid dish soap instead), a tray of water that is larger than your paper (or use your bathtub), a sheet of plexiglas or mylar, a watercolor palette or large tupperware lid, a rag, a container of water, a clean towel, and a rolling pin or wooden spoon. There is no sound or voice-over so play your own music and go at your own pace, breeze past what you already know and pause and skip around as needed. Pictures of the materials needed are at the end of each video. The series will include basic introductions to various art materials and methods in drawing, painting, and much more! Suited for beginner to intermediate artists, older kids and adults. All art and images are by Elody Gyekis unless otherwise noted.
