Om Sri Sai Ram! Maha Shivarathri is celebrated annually at Prashanthi Nilayam in the Divine presence of Lord Sai Shiva himself, marked by stotrams in praise of Lord Shiva, Akhanda Bhajans, Bhagawan's Divine Discourse, and, in some years, the Lingodbhavam (emergence of the Lingam). On this auspicious occasion, we present the footage of the Maha Shivarathri Celebrations of 2004. The morning program of February 18th, 2004 consists of a music program by the students of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, including stotrams and devotional songs on Lord Shiva. The evening program of the 2004 celebrations made this Maha Shivaratri one to remember for the devotees who had thronged to Prasanthi. After a few speeches, Bhagawan began to deliver his Divine Discourse in which he called on devotees to remember the great traditions of Bharat. The Discourse was interrupted, however, as the Lingodbhavam began to take place. Upon removing a golden Hiranyagarbha Lingam, Bhagawan retired to the interview room, where two more Lingams were removed (although this is not included in the video). He than resumed his Discourse, reassuring those gathered that He was in no pain or suffering, and had performed this miracle for His devotees alone. The Shivaratri Akhanda Bhajans then commence, with Bhagawan returning to Sai Kulwant Hall at approximately 1:40 A.M. for one hour of the Akhanda Bhajan. The scene then shifts to the morning of February 19th. The Akhanda Bhajans conclude with Mangala Aarti, followed by a speech and Bhagawan's Divine Discourse entitled, "Concentration Of Mind On The Divine Is Real Sadhana." The video concludes with the distribution of prasadam to all the devotees assembled in Sai Kulwant Hall. Please feel free to share this video with friends and family.
