There are a number of benefits to choosing Florida Orthopaedic Institute to keep you active with regards to spine surgery. We have several spine surgeons situated throughout the entire Tampa Bay area who have the ability to operate out of our two outpatient surgery centers as well as hospitals throughout the Tampa Bay area. Additional benefits are we have integrated physical therapy where you can be working with the same physical therapists while you are trying to exhaust all nonoperative measures prior to a surgery and then after surgery you could work with that same physical therapist to get you back doing the activities that you were doing previously. All of our spine surgeons are fellowship trained in spine surgery and with that we're able to discuss with patients both conventional and minimally invasive options using a shared decision-making model. We're able to work with the patient to find out what surgery would best meet their goals, whether that would be in an outpatient setting or potentially in a hospital setting if that's what's necessary. The goal of all the spine surgeons at Florida Orthopaedic Institute is to get our patients back to doing the activities that they were enjoying previously. The vast majority of our patients will get better with non-operative measures, whether that be through our integrative physical therapy or with referrals to our non-operative spine specialists. If however, it does come to a point where surgery needs to be discussed. Our fellowship trained spine surgeons are trained in both conventional and minimally invasive methods and talking with the patient. We will then decide together what goals are best and whether a minimally invasive option or a conventional surgery option would be the best for our patient. Trust and communication are of utmost importance to clean a surgeon and the patient. Our goal is to develop a relationship where we can find out what goals our patients have and what best way to for patients to reach their goals. Generally, that will be through non-operative measures. First, the majority of all patients will get better with non-operative measures such as using our integrated physical therapy or any of our non-operative specialists. If, however, in the unfortunate circumstance that non-operative measures are unsuccessful, we will then discuss surgical procedures with the patient, whether that be through conventional methods or through minimally invasive methods. Either way, we'd like to build a relationship with the patient so that we have their trust and in getting them back to the goals and the activities that they were doing previous to when they were injured. If nonsurgical approaches are ineffective, our spine team are able to offer the latest and state-of-the-art advancements in spine surgery.
