Mr. Leon Buskens is the Country Chair for Santos Limited in Papua New Guinea, a role in which he oversees Social Responsibility, Community Affairs, Communications, and biomass-related initiatives nationwide. He has held several senior leadership positions, including Senior Vice President for External Affairs – Community, where he championed community engagement and sustainable development. Under his leadership, the Santos Foundation has strengthened its commitment to strategic partnerships, formalising a landmark collaboration with the Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC). In August 2024, this partnership was strengthen through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at driving development in the Nipa Kutubu District of Southern Highlands Province. The initiative focuses on education, security and justice, youth employment, agricultural opportunities, and improved water, sanitation, and hygiene—leveraging Santos’s delivery capacity alongside MRDC’s governance expertise to benefit project-impacted communities. Mr. Buskens work reflects his dedication to creating shared value and fostering sustainable growth communities and beneficiaries in project impacted areas.
