SOUNDBITE (English) Sir Elton John: "We don't know how much money we'll raise, but hopefully it be towards seven figures, what we'll do with the money will be decided by the Board of Directors, but we'll give some of the money to projects in South Africa, they're desperately needed. Billie Jean and I are going to South Africa in January to see the projects that we already fund, and of course a lot of money will stay in this country for education and for immediate treatment for people who need it because this is the U.S. Foundation that we're doing it for, we have the Elton John Foundation in Britain that kind of caters for the rest of the world, but this is an American event, so hopefully a lot of the money will stay here." 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Billie Jean King "Most of it will stay here (in America)." 9. Camera cutaway: 10. SOUNDBITE (English) Sir Elton John: "Younger people have gone out and had unprotected sex because they think well if I do get HIV I can take the pills and I'm not going to die anymore because medicine has improved and treatments have improved, but they don't realise that the quality of life that they have to endure under those circumstances, is not great." 11. Neve Campbell posing for photographers 12. SOUNDBITE (English) Neve Campbell: "My mother used to work with AIDS (victims) and at the time it was a homosexual disease and I think people are more aware that it's certainly not that and never has been. I think there's also a realisation that you don't have to pass on very quickly from it, there are ways of dealing with it, but there's still not a cure, and it's really important to realise that." 13. Anna Kournikova posing for stills photographers 14. SOUNDBITE (English) Anna Kournikova, Tennis Player/Model: "He (Elton John) is a legend, I mean there's nothing, I don't know if you can use a lot of words to describe him, besides a legend." 15. Wide shot Tracey Austin posing for photographers 16. SOUNDBITE (English) Tracey Austin, Former Tennis Champion: "It's events like this that can raise money and Elton seems to do it tirelessly, he seems to just be so willing to want to constantly raise money and of course with that money, there's more research done and hopefully better drugs and people with HIV and AIDS living longer so I think it's all a great process." 17. Anna Kournikova and Andy Roddick posing for photographers 18. SOUNDBITE (English) Andy Roddick, Tennis Chmapion: "I just hope I can raise a little bit of money, I hope I don't get stuck up there and not raise anything, but I'm a better player than I am a coach, hopefully they won't know that when they're bidding, but it should be fun either way." 19. The singer hosted the 3rd Annual "An Enduring Vision" Charity Gala on Sunday night, October 10, 2004, which was put together by the Elton John AIDS Foundation, National AIDS Fund, and World Team Tennis. Sir Elton John had high hopes for a big haul at the auction, and big plans for how the money will be spent. Former tennis star Tracey Austin expressed great admiration for the man behind the event.
