We found the BEST family adventures in Koh Samui… If you are planning on visiting Koh Samui, Thailand, don't miss these 10 best things to do in Koh Samui! Ziplining, waterfalls & more – your kids will thank you, and you will too! Koh Samui is Thailand's second largest island, situated off the southern east coast. It's an amazing destination for family holidays with loads of things to see and do. In this video we take you through our top ten best things to do in Koh Samui, Thailand. 10. Visit the Temples - Koh Samui has several amazing Buddhist Temples. Three of the most famous and fascinating are The Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai), Wat Plai Laem and Wat Khunaram (The shrine of the Mummified Monk). 9. Hin Yai & Hin Ta Rocks - Just south of Lamai beach you will find Koh Samui's most mysterious rock formation, named Grandma (Hin Yai) and Grandpa (Hin Ta), after a local legend, these oddly shaped rocks are an amusing site to behold. 8. Na Mueang Waterfalls 1 & 2 (Also written Na Muang) - These waterfalls are two of the most famous in Koh Samui and are both beautiful in full flow. Na Mueang waterfall 1 is the easiest to reach and just a short walk from the parking area. Na Mueang 2 is a bit more difficult, and is quite a steep climb to the top, but worth it to see the amazing view. Perhaps a little tricky with small children but there are pools nearer the bottom you can paddle in. Note that the waterfalls can dry up in the dry season so worth checking with local guides before visiting. 7. Secret Buddha Garden (Tarnim Magic Garden) - Not far from waterfall 2 is this beautiful and tranquil garden full of unique stone sculptures of Buddha and other aspects of Thai Buddhism and Samui wildlife. 6. Lamai viewpoint and zipline - A stunning viewpoint with panoramic views across the south east of the island. You can take a cable car up the mountain to the viewpoint and cafe, and whizz down the two ziplines over the treetops of the lush rainforest below. 5. Enjoy the Beaches - Koh Samui is famous for its gorgeous beaches so make sure you spend a good amount of your holiday relaxing on the sand and splashing in the warm sea. The most popular include Chaweng and Lamai on the east coast and Lipa Noi on the west coast. Also try Crystal Beach. 4. Eat and shop at the Night markets - The most famous night markets are at Bophut Fisherman's Village in the north, and Chaweng and Lamai markets to the east. Make sure you try some delicious street food! 3. Watch a Fire show - There are a number of different venues that host amazing Fireshows on the beach in the evenings across Koh Samui. These include the Ark Bar in Chaweng, the Door in Lamai and Coco Tams in Bophut Fisherman's Village, which is probably the most family friendly. Others may be available. 2. Samui Elephant sanctuary - The Samui Elephant sanctuary has two sites, one in Bophut and one in Chaweng Noi and offers half day tours where you can meet and feed the elephants. An absolute must to visit! 1. Boat trip to Pig Island (Koh Madsum) and Koh Taen - Take a longtail boat trip to the unique Koh Madsum to visit its extraordinary community of pigs and then discover a colourful abundance of fish whilst snorkelling off the island of Koh Taen. The tour we took helped us beat the crowds and experience the island before anyone else arrived. The tour we took was with Andaman Islands Tours and Travel / andamanislandstravel Bonus: Ang Thong National Marine Park - Take a boat tour to the magnificent Ang Thong National Marine Park, a scenic group of 42 islands with stunning views, snorkelling and kayaking to enjoy.
